THE PREMIER CONFERENCE ON HIGH-PERFORMANCE BUILDING ENCLOSURES
The program includes three sessions covering issues unique to the region, including innovative building skins, high performance facades, and the future face of South Florida. These well-rounded, expert dialogues will inform and inspire.
The Facades+ conference series is a robust dialogue encompassing all things building skin—bridging the profession, industry, academia, operations, and ownership. We’ve distilled the best of the Facades+ 2-day event into a quick-take morning forum with a strong local flair.

A deep dive into facade materials and forms that stand up to the ever-changing climate challenges of South Florida. Case studies include Touzet's Mary Street adaptive reuse, Coconut Grove Station's resilient mixed-use with affordable housing, co-living and retail along transit, and Brooks+Scarpa's So. Florida Community Land Trust affordable housing, the Mennillo Art Museum and Hollywood Art & Culture Center, plus how architects can help set guidelines and principles for development of a sustainable and resilient built environment.
Evolving from gritty grafitti-ed warehouses to hotels and office towers, new buildings utilize the building envelope to mirror and enrich this unique urban arts district. Projects to be discussed are the Arlo Hotel, 545 WYN, a Class A office building, and The Dorsey, a mixed-use development.
The architects and facade consultants examine the first hi-rise facade, the Paramount tower's, on this 27 acre "new downtown", built to comply with new zoning created to engage pedestrians and create a new cityscape. We examine how the Paramount's team met the challenges of transitions from parking, retail, residences and tower with scale, texture and materiality.

During this afternoon’s topics we will learn from industry experts on how these systems can contribute to a sustainable building envelope, such as firestop systems that ensure occupant’s safety, self-cleaning facade panels and smart tinting glass technologies to ensure occupant comfort.
