On June 22nd, the Copper Development Association and the Canadian Copper & Brass Development Association awarded 15 buildings the North American Copper in Architecture Award. Ranging from SHoP’s dual copper-clad skyscrapers bordering the East River to the dome restoration of Bradford County’s Greek Revival courthouse, the award recognizes excellence in overall building design, its integration and use in historical restorations and the individual craft of copper installation.
The award is split into three categories: new Construction, restoration, and ornamental. The Copper Development Association notes that the in total “thousands of pounds of copper were used by the award-winning projects to clad and roof” this broad range of products.
