Prior to forming Measured in 2007 Clinton had amassed an impressive public architecture pedigree, including nine years as an architect for Bing Thom Architects in Vancouver working on commissions that included the redevelopment and expansion of the Arena Stage Theatre in Washington, DC, and the Surrey Campus of Simon Fraser University. Working alongside Bing Thom, Clinton played a pivotal role as project architect on both commissions, which garnered international attention and won the firm numerous prestigious awards. In particular, the SFU building was recognized for a Special Jury Prize in France’s Marche International des Professionels de l’Immobilier.

In Measured, Clinton has actualized his vision to create a firm where architects can fully engage and collaborate with clients, builders and other artisans to create outcomes that far surpass the sum of the individuals involved.

It’s here Clinton is able to combine his hard-earned, traditional architectural roots and technical skill with the learned core values from his past that he holds dear. Among those values are a duty of care to the environment — which Measured exercises through its continuous pursuit of local, sustainable materials and partnerships with local craftspeople — and a sense of responsibility to clients that manifests in trust relationships and, ultimately, the delivery of authentically functional, enduring and beautiful spaces.

I grew up
As a free-spirited kid in a family of larger-than-life characters in Regina, Saskatchewan — which was a hotbed of abstract, expressionist art in Canada at the time. My mother was the daughter of an adventurous Texas rancher and an all-American cowgirl. My father learned his activist politics at the knee of his Canadian rum-runner-harbouring grandfather. Crafts, design and politics were always front and centre in our house.

Ryan McClanaghan

Ryan is an architectural and urban designer whose work is informed by design innovation, research, and collaboration with clients and colleagues. He brings experience in mixed-use, office, residential and master planning projects gained through an international career with firms in Canada, the United States, and Germany. An advocate for functional, elegant designs that are specific to a project’s unique culture, local community and environment, Ryan also looks at each project as an opportunity for creative evolution. Ryan is currently a member of the City of Vancouver’s Mass Timber Advisory Committee.

Brian Hubbs

Brian is recognized as a practical engineer and researcher who delivers innovative solutions. He is one of the three co-founders of RDH and has a unique blend of theoretical and hands-on knowledge gained from completing hundreds of projects across RDH’s various practice areas.

Brian’s experience includes work on both high- and low-rise commercial, institutional, and residential projects in many geographic locations and in virtually all climatic regions in North America.

A key member of any design team, Brian specializes in façade engineering and is regularly involved in the design, testing, and construction of unique and complex building façades. He is often asked by clients to test and review various enclosure systems manufactured around the world.

An engaging and vibrant presenter, Brian regularly speaks at seminars, conferences, and universities on a range of building science topics. As one of the key contributors to the evolution of building enclosure technology in British Columbia, he has led landmark policy, guideline, and research initiatives.

Peter Dushenski is the Managing Director of GlasCurtain inc., a 100% Canadian-owned and operated curtain wall manufacturer that specializes in triple-glazed fibreglass-framed systems. Since 2013, Peter has led the company to several industry firsts including the highest thermally performing curtain wall in the world based on Cold Climate Passive House (PHI) certification – rated to 0.60 W/m2K. Peter lives in Edmonton, is happily married and the proud father of two little boys.

Hugh Lowry, Strategic Account Manager – Solar Facades, has a passion for BIPV. After his undergraduate at Queen’s, Hugh worked in the solar industry, specifically ground-mount utility projects. Taking a year to pursue an M.Eng at Western University was followed by Hugh’s current role, where he has applied his solar knowledge to facades.

Lindsay Duthie

Lindsay has worked on a diverse range of projects across Canada including large-scale commercial, institutional and residential projects. She is passionate about developing sustainable design solutions across all stages of a project, with a keen interest in material selection and reducing environmental impacts. She is devoted to creating meaningful projects that contribute to vibrant and inclusive placemaking, while also helping the planet.

Lindsay is a member of the DIALOG Green Practice Roundtable, involved with implementing sustainable design strategies for clients across a variety of industries. She has championed the implementation of Life Cycle Assessments (LCA) across the firm, to help clients make informed decisions about the embodied carbon impacts of material selection.

Justin Tompson

Justin is an architectural technologist with more than 20 years of hands-on experience. He has worked on a variety of projects, including educational facilities, border crossings, office buildings, high-rise residential towers, and transit infrastructure and facilities. As a project leader, Justin has developed projects from inception to completion. In his leadership roles, Justin provides continuity and consistency of design and execution throughout the project process, within his teams, and across DIALOG.

Justin is highly active at DIALOG. His leadership on the national Safety Committee led to the successful implementation of the mobile Job Site Hazard Assessment application. He also contributes his time to advancing initiatives around improving Contract Administration protocols and streamlining construction drawing standards. Justin embodies our ongoing purpose to do great work and make a difference.
