The Stanford University School of Medicine’s Center for Academic Medicine has created a specialized academic workplace aimed at combating clinician and resident burnout. Through an integrated planning process, the facility promotes rejuvenation and inclusivity. Key features include equitable access to natural light, community spaces, and inclusive amenities like gender-neutral restrooms. The building aims for net-zero energy, emphasizing sustainability and wellness, with spaces designed for respite and collaboration, fostering a supportive environment for staff working long hours.
10:15 - 11:00 AM
In this roundtable session, attendees will learn about the advanced building envelope products and services that are transforming the AEC industry. These advancements allow designers, engineers, and contractors to work smarter, build better, and realize their design intent.

Please join us for an overview of the latest Berkeley Lab research, tools, and facilities for supporting facade companies and professionals! We will share the latest information from several field demonstrations of advanced or underutilized window technologies, including thin triple windows, vacuum insulated glazing, automated shades with advanced controls, and exterior window films. Also covered will be the most recent developments in Berkeley Lab’s widely used software tools, such as WINDOW, THERM, and Radiance, as well as newer tools for controlling and integrating dynamic facades. Finally, we will go over Berkeley Lab’s multiple test facilities – thermal/optical characterization labs and full scale testbeds such as FLEXLAB – which, besides supporting our research, are also available to the industry for rigorous, expert evaluation of facade system performance.
