On Toronto’s Bloor Street, the city’s luxury shopping hub, PARTISANS has crafted a new facade for the Royal de Versailles Rolex Boutique. The firm cut large limestone blocks using a CNC machine operating from a parametric script to create panels that resemble Rolex’s iconic metal watch bands, known as oyster bracelets. Alex Josephson, president of PARTISANS, will demonstrate how computational design was leveraged to carve and intricate texture into each panel, evocative of pleated fabric.
