Born and raised in Dominion, Nova Scotia, Cathy attended Cape Breton University for two years before pursuing architectural studies at Dalhousie. Cathy’s stirring institutional designs not only inspire the communities they serve, but also prioritize sustainability, accessibility and durability. Married with her exceptional leadership skills and highly efficient working style, Cathy’s specialized skills ensure that projects reflect design excellence and integrity.

Currently Cathy is involved in bringing the Nova Scotia Community College, Marconi Campus, to a new home on Sydney Harbour, in Cape Breton Island. This is special project for her as the project aspirations are to reinvigorate post-industrial Downtown Sydney with the new campus, which is near where she grew up. Upon joining MTA in 2018, Cathy served as Project Architect for the Place des Arts for Greater Sudbury project, a multipurpose cultural centre for the Franco-Ontarian community which included a theatre, daycare and gallery spaces. She was also a design team leader for the Ontario Secondary School Teachers’ Federation Headquarters. This mass timber, LEED Platinum facility which also includes a geothermal field, is now under construction. Cathy has a wealth of expertise in the execution of Student, Wellness and recreation facitlities for a number of postsecondary and public institutions, including projects with McMaster and Dalhousie Universities, and projects for a number of southern Ontario Municipalities.

Cathy has served as a Project Architect and Team leader in all phases of a project. Her experience working with various client types through early design to completed construction will ensure that project goals are achieved without compromise to the design. Her career experience ranges from institutional to residential projects with an ability to develop and implement design vision at any scale.
