Ian Mountfort
Principal
Ian Mountfort joined Blackwell in 1999, and became an associate in 2005 and a principal in 2008. He studied at McGill University in Montreal, where he obtained his Bachelor of Engineering in structural engineering. He also earned a bachelor’s degree in philosophy, making him the only arts major on our leadership team. He brings a welcome perspective to all of our projects, and is focused on elegance, efficiency, and advances in building technologies. Ian is passionate about creating buildings and structures that are environmentally responsible and socially conscious. Ian leads Blackwell’s sustainability design committee efforts, working to optimize structural systems while promoting the sustainable and efficient use of materials. He is proud to have led Blackwell’s efforts on the Churchill Meadows Community Centre in Mississauga, and the Neil Campbell Rowing Centre in Port Dalhousie; both projects showcasing innovative and sustainable building designs.
